A service that auto-generates customized monthly usage report, uploads to document management system and notifies the respective business owners

My work included (and not limited to) the following:

• Liaised with the customer for report requirements

• Reviewed the architecture and analyzed the DMS database for retrieving the neccessary data

• Designed and developed a scheduled service that

- retrieves the users access history for the month from the DMS database

- generates the month's report

- calls DMS API to upload into DMS workspace with the correct access rights

- notifies the respective business owners via email

Productivity

A plugin developed that simplifies work, reducing the steps required from many to one, and the people involved from multi-party to one

• Before

1. Investment analyst requests assistant to create a workspace, by providing the country and investment name

2. Assistant requests system administrator to create a workspace, by providing the country and investment name

3. System administrator creates the workspace with the neccessary access rights base on country

4. System administrator adds the workspace's link to a workspace explorer intended for new analysts

5. System administrator informs the assistant upon workspace creation

6. Assistant informs the analyst

7. Analyst searches for the workspace and starts to work on the investment

• After (a plugin was developed for the system)

1. Investment analyst enters the country and investment name in the plugin and clicks "Create Workspace", then immediately starts to work on the investment (with everything else handled by the plugin in the backend)

Improve Performance

A solution that reduces the document load time from 12 seconds to 2 seconds

With server hosted in Singapore and new users accessing from New York and Hong Kong, these remote users experienced low latency. Loading a document took up to 12 seconds.

• Solution implemented

1. Caching servers were deployed to New York and Hong Kong. Document accessed were cached in the respective cache server so that subsequent access would be loaded from the cache. However document accessed for the first time still experienced slow loading.

2. A scheduled service to pre-cache new documents was developed and deployed. Time to load a document for the first time reduce to 2 seconds.
